To accompany Perth Theatre and Imaginate’s production of I Am Tiger in May 2022, we worked with four Writers and Drama Artists to create and facilitate writing workshops with 12-18 year olds.
These workshops explored the language we use to express our emotions and considered how writing can help our mental health.
Participants were tasked with reflecting on the relationship between emotions and language, exploring these topics by creating:
- A dictionary full of new words for feelings we don't currently have the vocabulary for;
- And notes for a rainy day, which offer positive supportive messages for anyone experiencing a hard time.
These workshops worked with secondary schools, our youth theatre and youth-action events across Perth and Kinross, engaging over 100 young people.
So that participants can revisit their uplifting creations, a website was created to house the work created by the young people involved in the project, as well as the writing prompts from the artists the project worked with.
