125 Live!
Sat 6 +Sun 7 Sep
2025 is a milestone year for Perth Theatre and Concert Hall, with Perth Theatre turning 125 and Perth Concert Hall reaching 20. To celebrate these birthdays, we’re throwing a street party!
To celebrate 125 years of entertainment in the city, Perth Theatre and Concert Hall are throwing a street party for Perth.
125 Live! on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 September 2025 will transform Mill Street into a musical and theatrical menagerie for a one-of-a-kind celebration of the performing arts and their place at the heart of the community.
Taking place across three live stages, stretching from Perth Concert Hall Plaza to Perth Theatre Courtyard, this outdoor spectacular will programme classical, contemporary, musical theatre and trad music stars alongside local groups, societies and community participants. Cutting-edge projections and special effects will envelop audiences by animating the surrounding buildings and structures, and the show will culminate in a dazzling audiovisual display.
There will be free drop-in daytime activities and performances for families, with food and drinks stands creating a true festival atmosphere in the heart of the city.
Iconic Glasgow glam-pop band Walt Disco leads the line-up for 125 Live! with further acts to include Skye trad and electronic duo Valtos, Perth indie band Parliamo, dynamic Perthshire piper Ross Ainslie with The Sanctuary Band and singer-songwriter and DJ Jack David.
They will be joined by spectacular big band That Swing Sensation, musical theatre stars Hannah Howie & Matthew Tomlinson and students from UHI Perth Musical Theatre course for a performance that runs from Perth Concert Hall Plaza to Perth Theatre Courtyard repeated over two nights.
(Beatles for Babies, taking place in Perth Theatre’s Joan Knight Studio during the daytime, is a participatory performance for 0-3s and their grown-ups. This is a separately ticketed event.)
Learn more about the acts performing at 125 Live! below:
The Glaswegian glam pop outfit WALT DISCO have been making waves in the European indie scene since their debut EP Young Hard and Handsome was released in September of 2020. Consisting of six members, three of whom are from Perth - James (lead singer); Finlay (guitar and keyboards); Lewis (guitarist); David (synth); Charlie (bass); and Jack (drums) - the group’s appearance is reminiscent of David Bowie, Marc Bolan, and mid-1970s Brian Eno with a dash of ABBA thrown in for good measure. Yet Walt Disco somehow remains totally unlike any other band that has gone before them – they have a distinctly 21st-century feel, a fervent embrace of unapologetic self-expression and decadence. The band have quickly forged their own signature sound, inviting listeners into a colourful realm of rock n’ roll that Dork Magazine has dubbed, 'Walt Discoworld.'
125 Live! will be their Perth debut.
VALTOS, comprised of Skye natives Daniel Docherty and Martyn MacDonald, have taken the Trad and Electronic music worlds by storm. Since their debut shows in December 2021, they have captivated audiences at festivals and sold-out venues nationwide. Their music has been described by Folk Radio UK as 'like nothing you've heard before', blending influences from electronic and folk music. Inspired by artists like Martyn Bennet, Peatbog Faeries, Odesza, Madeon, and Bicep, Valtos creates a unique and genre-defying sound.
125 Live! will be their Perth debut.
Already being hailed as one of Scotland’s most exciting young prospects, local Perth band PARLIAMO, takes inspiration from the laid-back electronica-infused indie pioneered by the likes of Primal Scream, Super Furry Animals and Blur. Their debut EP, The Parliamo Manifesto, released in 2021, saw the band employ a tongue-in-cheek approach to some of the darker aspects of life faced by young people and marked them out as a major emerging talent to watch. Turning heads with their self-proclaimed brand of 'underground pop', the band have since attracted praise from the likes of Clash Magazine, BBC Radio 1, 6 Music, Radio Scotland, Radio X, KEXP and more.
Parliamo last played the Joan Knight Studio in 2022
Born in Perthshire in 1983, ROSS AINSLIE began his career as a member of the Perth and District Pipe Band, before joining the Vale of Atholl Pipe Band, where piper Gordon Duncan mentored him. Hugely influenced by Gordon’s fearlessly innovative spirit and groundbreaking compositions, Ross began exploring his own abilities as a composer and writing his own tunes, and in 2002 he was a finalist in the prestigious BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year competition. Ross has six solo albums to date; Wide Open in 2013, Remembering in 2015, Sanctuary in 2017, Vana in 2020, Live in the Gorbals in 2022 and Pool in 2024.
Through the Gordon Duncan Memorial Trust, Perth Concert Hall ran the Gordon Duncan Experience from 2011 – 2023, providing young people aged 11-25 from Perthshire and further afield opportunities to perform Scottish Traditional music as part of a large group and participate in an annual concert held in the venue.

Jack’s songs have accumulated over 200 million streams so far. Long before Jack decided to become a fully-fledged performing artist under this name, Jack David started as a passion project, and as an outlet to showcase Jack’s love for feel-good music. After the success of his singles Lost in The Night, a collaboration with Thierry Von Der Warth, and Lost in Love (feat. Rolipso), it became clear that following the sounds that you find most exciting is always the best way to go. Jack will release a new EP in August of this year.
