Michaela’s background is rooted in the hospitality industry, having started out in hotel management in her native Germany. Her chosen career allowed her to travel, and it took her initially to the Isle of Wight (they are responsible for her ‘impeccable’ use of the English language), then London, Munich and ultimately Scotland. It was in Scotland that she first specialised in event management and sales working for Gleneagles, Scottish Highland Hotels and MacDonald Hotels before joining Stirling Castle, Compass’ Group’s brand of Leith’s and Nairn’s Anywhere, the contracted catering company for Historic Scotland.
Joining the then Horsecross Arts in 2004, Michaela launched Perth Concert Hall to the conference world, hosting political party conferences, international association events, gala dinners, glitzy award ceremonies and small training events. An early highlight was winning the Scottish Thistle Awards for Business Tourism in 2007. Since then, the organisation has won many more awards and hosted many more exciting events, building on the important relationship between commercial and cultural activities.
