Creative Hub: GO! Play, Improv and The Inner Child

Welcome to the playground! In this workshop, you will (re)discover creativity that is both joyful and imaginative. Based on improvisation we’ll be re-connecting with our sense of play and imagination

The misconception is that improvisation is about being funny, when it’s really a broader approach for giving and playing; having a ‘yes and’ attitude to the unpredictable. It’s about collaboration and creating space where all ideas build value! In this workshop we challenge the very ideas of ‘success’ and ‘failure.’ All that matters is jumping in, and we jump with the knowledge that others have our back.

Rowan Heggie’s own theatre work and poetry explores themes of childhood, gender and transformation, with their play ‘WRAPPERS’ in development and shortlisted (select 10) for the 2024 David MacLennan Award. They are an actor, writer, improviser, and part-time clown. A 2021 graduate of Acting & Performance in Dundee, Rowan has over 10 years of experience in workshop design and delivery across drama, improvisation, science communication and health education. They have collaborated with individual artists and theatre companies to develop new work, and currently work in devising theatre with young people across Fife, Perthshire and Edinburgh. Rowan’s own work explores themes of childhood, gender and transformation.
