Perth Theatre is inviting young people aged between 14 and 19 to audition for its next Perth Youth Theatre (PYT) mainstage production, the Tony Award-winning musical Into The Woods.
Open to all young people who will be aged between 14 and 19 on Saturday 31 August 2024, auditions are being held at Perth Theatre on Saturday 7 and Saturday 14 September.
The Theatre is running an Open Day on Saturday 31 August for anyone interested in in being part of the cast to sing through the songs; meet the creative team and hear more about the production.
Perth Youth Theatre’s first full-scale mainstage musical, Into The Woods brings The Brothers Grimm to the stage with an epic fairytale about wishes, family and the choices we make.
James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim take everyone's favourite storybook characters and bring them together for a timeless yet relevant piece and rare modern classic.
The story follows a Baker and his wife who wish to have a child, Cinderella who wishes to attend the King's Festival, and Jack who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch's curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse. Everyone's wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results.
Enchanting and touching with a darkly comic edge, Perth Youth Theatre’s Into The Woods is an opportunity for young people with an interest in musical theatre to work with a professional creative team of Director; Musical Director, Designer and Vocal specialist and the wider Perth Theatre team on a full-scale production of the Tony Award-winning musical.

The cast will be made up of young people aged 14 to 19 in what will be our first ever musical for this annual production - which is even more exciting. We look forward to meeting lots of talented young people from across Perthshire and Tayside who are both familiar and new to Perth Theatre, who would like to be part of this wonderful show about love, life and the choices we make.”
