Are you a creative or artist with an interest in green initiatives? Do you know Perth and its transport options?

If so, read on, as we have the project for you…

Audiences regularly travel to Perth Theatre and Concert Hall to enjoy shows and participate in projects, meaning their journeys are one of the most significant sources of emissions associated with the organization. We are taking new steps to tackle that!

We are recruiting for a socially-engaged artist/creative to lead a project seeking to gather and document audience experiences of travelling to and from the venues. The intended outcomes are to gain both a better understanding of the barriers faced by audiences, and to develop more positive attitudes towards choosing sustainable transport options.

This project will be delivered by Creative Carbon Scotland in partnership with Perth Theatre and Concert Hall but led by our successful artist who will contribute between May 2023 and March 2024.

You will have the opportunity to heavily shape the development and delivery of this project within the following broad structure. We are asking the successful artist to:

  1. Organise, research and conduct five workshops with repeat attendees of Perth Theatre and Concert Hall, to learn about their transport methods and travel experiences.
  2. To hold a similar workshop with staff of Perth Theatre and Concert Hall.
  3. To creatively document audience travel to and from the venues.
  4. To contribute to two sharing events with audiences, staff and local decision-makers which showcase your creative documentation.
  5. And to collaborate with project partners on project communications and reporting.

We are open-minded about how you apply your creative practice to the project. It could be film-based, image led, feature voices telling stories… or otherwise! So, whether you’re a visual artist, a performing artist, a writer, designer, musician, or a creative practitioner in a realm we’ve yet to even consider, we encourage you to take a look at our recruitment pack and apply if you feel the green goals of this project resonate with you.

We expect this project will require 30 days worth of work, for a fee of £10,800. Please review the recruitment pack for greater detail.

All applications are welcome from both established and emerging creatives. In the case of emerging creatives who may not yet have experience of direct public engagement, if successful, you will be supported as required.

Deadline for applications is 23rd April 2023. We look forward to seeing your pitch!
