The National Youth Orchestras of Scotland (NYOS) is inviting audiences to join them in Perth Concert Hall on Saturday 15 July to hear incredible music brought to life by Scotland’s outstanding young musicians, performing alongside internationally renowned soloists and conductors.
Following rave reviews this spring, NYOS Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by Music Director of the English National Opera Martyn Brabbins. Martyn Brabbins is an inspirational force in British music, conducting almost all the major UK orchestras alongside a prolific international career.
The Symphony Orchestra will also be joined by acclaimed violinist Elena Urioste in Coleridge-Taylor’s Violin Concerto, programmed alongside virtuosic tone poems by Elgar and Richard Strauss. As part of its commitment to championing contemporary Scottish composers, the Symphony Orchestra will also perform the premiere of the full orchestral version of Claire McCue’s In Pursuit, a vibrant concerto for two trombones and orchestra featuring Cillian Ó Ceallacháin and Blair Sinclair.
The NYOS Symphony Orchestra summer concert in Perth is dedicated to the memory of former Chief Executive Richard Chester MBE as they celebrate his legacy and lifelong dedication to music and launch a new fund in his honour, which will support further world-class opportunities for young musicians in Scotland.
