Offering Scottish exclusive performances from stellar musicians, Perth Concert Hall’s Classical Stars series presents young talent and experienced international performers in a glittering galaxy of youth and experience.

The autumn Classical Stars series gets underway on Wednesday 11 October with an exclusive performance by spectacular young violinist Randall Goosby with Zhu Wang on piano.

Acclaimed for the sensitivity and intensity of his musicianship, Randall Goosby is determined to make music more inclusive and accessible, as well as bringing the music of under-represented composers to light. His programme on Wednesday 11 October will offer a feast of melody with works by Dvořák, R Strauss, William Grant Still, Florence Price and Coleridge-Taylor.

In contrast, the afternoon concert on Sunday 22 October spotlights an elder statesman on the scene, in the form of one of the world’s greatest pianists Richard Goode. Famous for his interpretations of core classical composers, his programme of works by Bach, Chopin and Fauré is the perfect showcase for his legendary emotional intensity and intellectual rigour.

Young Japanese-Scottish guitarist Sean Shibe demonstrates the variety of repertoire which makes him such a compelling artist on Wednesday 6 December with an eclectic programme that includes a selection of Scottish Lute Manuscripts alongside works by Poulenc, Couperin and Mompou, with a new commission by Adès. The first guitarist ever to be selected for BBC Radio 3’s New Generation Artists scheme, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland graduate and Associate Artist is now one of the most celebrated guitarists in the world.

Commenting on his first visit to Perth Concert Hall, Randall Goosby said:

“We have a really wonderful programme filled with dramatics, fireworks and surprises. We are so excited to join you on our first visit to Perth.”

Creative Director for Classical Music for Perth Concert Hall, James Waters said:

“A fantastic autumn of music beckons with our Classical Stars series of Scottish exclusive performances. Youth and age are contrasted with Randall Goosby, perhaps the most exciting young violinist on the block followed by the great American pianist Richard Goode, one of the towering musical figures of the last 40 years. Add to that Scotland’s world-famous guitarist Sean Shibe with one of his irresistible programmes, and we have a fabulous musical diet to cheer us as we head into winter.”
