The hugely acclaimed musician Rhiannon Giddens uses her art to excavate the past and reveal bold truths about our present. Her lifelong mission is to lift up people whose contributions to American musical history have previously been erased, and to work toward a more accurate understanding of the country’s musical origins.
She co-founded the Grammy Award-winning Carolina Chocolate Drops, and has been nominated for six more Grammys for her work as a soloist and collaborator. Most recently, Rhiannon has had a fruitful period of collaboration with Francesco Turrisi, with the Grammy-nominated album there is no Other in 2019 and the Grammy-winning album They’re Calling Me Home in 2021.
An utterly electrifying live performer, she makes a very welcome return to Perth after two unforgettable shows at Southern Fried festival with Carolina Chocolate Drops and in 2015 as a solo artist.
