Perth Concert Hall & Perth Theatre have been designed to be disability friendly. We have lifts to all levels, Assistive Listening, FM Headsets and friendly staff who are always happy to help.
We have gone high-tech with a new system at both Perth Concert Hall & Perth Theatre for patrons who need a little extra help hearing our productions. You can now use your own headphones to access our audio streams or to Bluetooth directly to your hearing aid. This system is available in the Perth Theatre Main House and Joan Knight Studio, as well as in the Gannochy Trust Auditorium at Perth Concert Hall.
How it works:
We have a trained team who describe the action on stage for our visually impaired patrons. Description begins ten minutes prior to curtain up with scene setting and programme notes. Audio Description is only available for certain performances, please contact the Ticketing Services team at Box Office for dates and times.
These are an innovative way for our visually impaired patrons to enjoy the full theatre experience. Those attending an Audio Described performance also have the opportunity to feel sets and costumes and have all the aspects of the production and staging described to them. Touch Tours are only available on the same dates as Audio Described performances.
A talking version of our brochure is available. Please contact info@perththeatreandconcerthall.com
Where possible, we offer British Sign Language (BSL) Interpreted performances. Please contact the Ticketing Services Team at Box Office who can advise dates and times for these performances and best seats to view the interpreter.
BSL users can contact us via contactSCOTLAND-BSL, the on-line British Sign Language interpreting video relay service. Find out more on the contactSCOTLAND website.
Relaxed performances are less formal and have a more supportive atmosphere allowing everyone to experience the joy of live performance. All are welcome to attend, however patrons with an autistic spectrum condition, sensory sensitivity, communication or learning disability may find these performances particularly beneficial.
A relaxed performance is still the same show, but with some small changes including:
All guide, hearing and assistance dogs are welcome in both our buildings.
We have booster seats for the little ones (available for Stalls-only seating in both venues) and the Perth Theatre Café provides highchairs and bottle warming. We’re breast feeding friendly and there are baby changing facilities for men and women to use throughout.
We have sensory backpacks that are designed for anyone living with autism, down syndrome, sensory processing disorder, anxiety and dementia. However, anyone who feels they would benefit from extra support in our buildings can borrow them. Please ask at the Ticketing Services Team at Box Office for a sensory backpack, they can be used anytime; it doesn’t need to be for a performance. They are completely free to borrow and are sanitised thoroughly between uses.
