SchubertSymphony No 8 in B minor ‘Unfinished’ D 759 Saint-SaënsCello Concerto No. 1 in A minor Op 33 BeethovenSymphony No 6 in F major ‘Pastoral’ Op 68 Carlo Tenan, conductor Pablo Ferrandéz, cello Two of the best loved symphonies in all classical music is a real luxury in an evening. Schubert’s ‘Unfinished’ symphony is almost from another world of haunting darkness with occasional aspects of optimism. Beethoven’s ‘Pastoral’ includes a shepherd's pipe, birds singing, streams flowing, and a thunderstorm followed by a hymn of thanksgiving for the wonderful world of nature. Saint-Saëns’s cello concerto is full of romantic Gallic charm. It is hard to imagine a more enjoyable evening of symphonic music. £36.50, £31, £28, £22.50, £16.50; Disabled Concession £19.50, £16.75, £15.25, £12.50 (inc £2.50 booking fee per ticket), £7; Students/Young Scot/Under 26s £6; Under 18s go free
